In the Area

Stonehaven has much to offer the visitor. The town has a great selection of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as the the UK's only art deco, olympic sized, open air swimming pool.

Also in the area is wildlife reserve, a great choice of country and coastal walks and places to go cycling, fishing or play a round of golf.

Visitors to the area will also find much to explore beyond the bustling town of Stonehaven. To the South are the dramatic ruins of Dunnottar Castle throned high on the clifftops. North can be found the galleries, museums, theatre and shopping in the city of Aberdeen - also known as the 'Oil capital of Europe'. To the West are the highland resorts of Banchory, Ballater and Braemar. The Royal residence of Balmoral Castle surrounded by the hills and pine forest of Royal Deeside, with the famous castles of Mar, Crathes, Craigievar and many more. Most are open to the public.
